About

A Texan by heart and soul, Laurie’s story began when she headed to Indiana University as a journalism student and discovered her passion for creative thinking, writing and publicity. While interning for several summers at a PR firm in Houston, she had the opportunity to interact and work with a variety of clients including Simon Property Group, Landry’s Restaurants Inc., Freedom Over Texas, H-E-B and Bailey Banks & Biddle. After those few summers, she simply knew public relations was for her.

Laurie then made the move back to Texas and began working in PR right away—this time with a different twist. Public relations for one client, one company, one place. A new perspective. A different take on PR.

After a few additional projects were piled on and her to-do list began to grow, Laurie somehow ended up in magazine publishing. Who knew? The combination of PR and editorial work provided her with a unique perspective on publicity and newsworthiness, seeing not only through the eyes of a PR professional but also through those of a publisher.

Soon after, she was given the opportunity to expand the social media outlets and initiatives for both the company and publication she worked for. Social media quickly became one of her many passions.

And then something big happened and life took some new, exciting turns. Laurie now lives with her fiance in San Antonio, where she eats entirely too much Tex-Mex.

In her spare time, Laurie moonlights as a freelance writer, editor and social media consultant. And at the ripe old age of 20-something, she can safely say that she’s found her niche (for now) and feels pretty comfortable with where she is and who she’s become.

Of course, there’s also a lot more to Laurie than her work. You can find her in the kitchen, breaking a sweat in the gym, discovering a new favorite wine, singing in the shower, volunteering for a cause, taking naps when it’s raining, quoting cheesy ’90s movies, devouring chips and salsa, finding nice bargains on pretty things, obsessing over AP style and good grammar, playing with her dog Loui, getting pampered every other Friday, falling asleep with the TV on, enjoying the sunshine and traveling.
