All morning I’ve been singing, “Ice cream and cake and cake! Ice cream and cake and cake! Ice cream and cake, do the ice cream and cake! Ice cream and cake, do the ice cream and cake!” This cute catchy jingle is from a popular Baskin-Robbins TV commercial that advertises for the company’s ice cream cakes. While the ad is semi-funny (jumping dinosaurs and robots do put a smile on my face) and clearly low-budget, the jingle is pretty perfect. Every single time I hear someone say Baskin-Robbins, mention the word cake or talk about ice cream, this song pops into my head. I’ll never forget that Baskin-Robbins sells ice cream cakes and I’m pretty sure you won’t either.

And this got me wondering–what’s YOUR favorite advertising jingle or slogan? McDonalds? Daisy? Folgers? I’d love to hear some of your favorites.

There’s only one instance throughout an entire year when everyone watches commercials: the Super Bowl. This year, I must admit that I was pretty unimpressed. Sure there was Megan Fox, a violin-playing beaver, men running around in their underwear, a guy watching tv in his casket, Beyonce, pretty Clydesdales and a longhorn, Betty White, a cheesy Dorito-covered gym rat and Danica Patrick, but the winner by far goes to Google.

See, the men in the room said, “Oh give me a break,” while the women said, “Oh my gosh, that was the best commercial EVER!” Either way, it got a response. Isn’t that what advertising’s all about? Personally, I loved the Google commercial. Not just because I’m a girl and the commercial was sweet, sappy and romantic, but also because it was real and simple. Which ad was your favorite?
