My miracle in a mug.
- by Laurie
I really don’t know how I survived this many years without drinking coffee in the morning. Sure I’d have the occasional frothy frappuccino or iced tea from Starbucks, but I never thought of walking up to the counter and ordering coffee. Maybe it’s because I didn’t grow up around it–who knows. But I was recently turned on to drinking coffee in the mornings and it has officially stuck. It truly is a miracle in a mug.
On another note, how was your Fourth of July? As promised, mine was filled with lots of food (mostly BBQ), sunshine and drinks by the pool. A fun time was had by all. Later that evening friends got together near downtown Houston to watch the beautiful fireworks fly overhead. Despite the 100 degree heat during the day, it actually was quite pleasant standing outside watching the fireworks that night. Okay, okay, it wasn’t pleasant, but it was bearable. At least it was 95 degrees with a breeze, right?! Oh who am I kidding. The weather was sticky, humid and yuck. But the fireworks sure were pretty!
I wish I had more interesting adventures to report, but let’s face it. The most exciting thing right this second is the coffee mug sitting in front of me. Yum.

Sauna
- by Laurie
Well, back from the Hamptons and back to the grind. The weather was beautiful toward the end of our trip in NY. Sunny, warm 75-80 degree ocean weather. It was fabulous. Then the plane lands in Houston and it’s back to the sauna. Seriously, you walk outside and the sweat starts rolling. I know, ew. But really, 100 degrees? Not quite sure why I bother getting ready for work in the morning… I should just be wearing a bathing suit to the office. Well on second thought, maybe I shouldn’t. Either way, I would give anything to step out of this sauna and back into the gorgeous Hampton sunshine.
But If I’m going to live in Houston and be stuck in this hot, humid weather, I fully intend on being poolside for the Fourth of July. What are your plans? Fireworks? BBQ?
